![]() Plus the rails are low, very easy for someone to climb between balconies. We were on the 2nd floor, and it did have a nice balcony to sit on, although it only had wrought iron railing between the other balconies, so if someone from a room next door was sitting on their balcony there would be no privacy. They only give two bath towels in the room, two hand towels and two wash cloths, the front desk didn't seem too happy about handing us more. There was the same type of unit by the sink, along with another teeny tiny bar of soap. There was a unit on the wall that contained what I was told was the shampoo, which when dispensed came out as foam. There was a tiny, very tiny, bar of soap, no bottles of shampoo or conditioner. While the bathroom overall was clean, the shower door frame was absolutely disgustingly filthy. The toilet faced the bathtub, and there was about 18 inches of space between it and the tub. It was only the width of the bathtub, so maybe 4 and a half feet wide. The only thing in the room that was an update was the small flatscreen tv. It felt and sounded like it was an air mattress. The mattress was uncomfortable, and noisy. Plus the sheets were worn and thin looking. When I pulled back the bedspread and blanket the sheets were extremely wrinkled, and in my opinion looked like they weren't changed after a previous guest had stayed there. There was a refrigerator in the room with a microwave plopped on top. The room had dark brown carpet, dark furniture, bedspreads that looked like they were from the 1980's, the bathroom sink is right by the entrance door to the room, and the counter and vanity look like they haven't been changed since the 1960's or '70's. The hallway is narrow, and dingy looking. We stayed in this hotel last night (7/8/16). ![]() Its' two wings, both built 50 years ago, should be demolished.… Finally, given Colonial's shoddy construction, upgrading is not feasible. Just to make all the guests really happy, management this year ended its' complimentary breakfasts. What an excruciating stay! It was to be two days/nights. In the early morning, unsupervised children were running in the halls, no doubt enjoying the bounce of the creeky floors. ![]() Really, it was impossible to fall back asleep as even my ear plugs failed to do the trick. Last night my neighboring "guests" had a party between 1:00am and 2:30am. that's not the main problem! The hotel's wood frame construction creeks between the floors, the walls, and the ceilings. They should have been upgraded 25 years ago, and, the tired mahogony furniture speaks loudly on the failures of Colonial Brick's management. With few hostelry options in the 'Endless Mountains', between the 45-mile distance between Scranton and Binghampton, I've stayed 3 or 4 times at Colonial Brick Inn over 10 years: Last night at Colonial Brick will be my last! The rooms, on two floors, most of which have double Queen beds, are large. I strongly suggest that anyone traveling through this area look for other accommodation!… I had her call the owner who was also rude and hung up on me. She refused to adjust the price and was very rude. This is fraudulent and I will be reporting it to the State of NY. I have attached screenshots as an example. She then proceeded to say that ALL the prices on the motels booking app are in US dollars no matter what currency you request the price to be in - even though the app indicates that it is using other currencies. When I told the woman at the front desk (who informed me that she was the manager) that I was overcharged she refused to listen or try to understand the conversion between CDN and US dollars. The charge in US dollars should have been about $78. When I checked in and was given my receipt, after having to request it, I was charged $103 in US dollars. I booked online from Canada using the hotels website for booking and the price in Canadian dollars for the night we stayed was $103. This motel is in desperate need of some maintenance - at a minimum.! All of this pales compared to the rude and dishonest customer service. The mattresses sagged a lot in the middle. Our bathroom door would not close, the toilet paper holder was ripped off the wall, the carpet was stained, the screen in the sliding patio door was ripped and the metal frame was bent out of shape and the AC had no trim around it but was left as a gaping hole with insulation showing. This hotel looks OK from the outside and the lobby. Barcelo Bavaro Palace All Inclusive Resort. ![]()
